I just want to start by saying I found Jesse Millers’ presentation really entertaining and insightful, and I’m so thankful he took the time to come and talk to us. His presentation was incredible and he was really engaging and charismatic. The personal anecdotes and real stories of situations he’s encountered made the class even more engaging. I learnt so much that I wasn’t previously aware of regarding internet safety and privacy. One of the key things I took away was the impact of my Digital footprint. I knew I couldn’t post any pictures of me with any alcohol or weed as a teacher but I wasn’t aware that any old photos of me online even ones I didn’t post myself could also impact my employment. I also learnt that I am not allowed to be seen drinking out of work by any of my students. Now maybe its because the town I’m from is small but. I saw quite a few of my teachers out for drinks at restaurants without consequence. It made me realize just how much responsibility I will have as a future teacher and the example I will need to set for my student. After the class it made me do a big deep dive of my name to see if there was anything out there that I may need to be concerned about. Luckily nothing came up, and now I just have to make sure nothing will come up in the future.
