I thought Most Likely to Succeed was a really thought-provoking documentary that showed a lot of the challenges facing modern education and that I will have to face as a future educator. I enjoyed the mix of storytelling and insightful interviews, it kept it very engaging. The film talked about the f shortcomings of traditional educational systems and the need for innovation in preparing students for the complexities of the 21st century. They spoke about the current emphasis on standardized testing and memorization and how ill-suited it is for a world that demands creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration. The film is a little dated, having come out in 2015 and I believe since then there have been some significant changes in education to stray away from that. But there’s definitely still progress that needs to be made to amend those issues particularly in higher education.

One of the film’s strengths is in its portrayal of innovative educational models, such as those implemented at High Tech High in San Diego, California. By showcasing classrooms where project-based learning takes precedence and students are encouraged to explore their passions. The documentary prompts viewers to reflect on the purpose of education and the skills needed for success in an increasingly interconnected and dynamic global economy. It raises questions about how we measure academic achievement and whether traditional metrics adequately prepare students for the challenges they will face in the future.

I thought the film was wonderful, and thought-provoking, and something anyone interested in the future of education should check out.

How it Will Impact My Teaching

My goal is to incorporate the effective techniques I observed in the documentary into my upcoming teaching career. I hope to establish a classroom atmosphere that prioritizes student engagement, utilizing progressive approaches such as project-based learning and fostering critical thinking abilities.
