For this week’s class we talked about Edcamps. I had no previous knowledge of Edcamps so this was an awesome learning experience for me. Edcamps are free, inclusive events designed specifically for educators of all grades and subjects who are looking to expand professional learning communities. They emphasize participation and the events are all participant driven. Participants collaboratively determine session topics, sourced either from attendees or through online registration for virtual events. This model allows for a diverse range of discussions. Rather than featuring experts, EDcamps prioritizes the sharing of experiences and encourages interactive conversations over planned presentations. I found this company Digital Promise that puts on EDcamps, and puts out accessible resources for educators and schools, as well as this video from their YouTube channel talking a bit about EdCamps.
