This week we had guest speaker Kirsten Pierce come educate us about outdoor education and how we can integrate technology outdoors. One of the key things she mentioned was using a two-eyed lens when interacting with the world and as an educator. This is a topic I feel like I have learnt a lot about in the past two years and one that I think is very important, especially for the field of education. For this class, we got outside and went to the incredibly beautiful Finnerty Gardens. It was the perfect weather to have an outdoor class and a much-needed break amidst the chaos of this semester. Hunting down the QR codes was great fun. I think a lesson like this could be a great way to get students outside and explore nature. With older kids maybe you could put the QR codes on specific plants and when the kids click on it you could have it take them to a description of the plant and some fun facts about it.  I believe that outdoor education is so valuable. By putting students outside it allows them to build a connection with nature, and build a curiosity, and appreciation for the world they live in. Outdoor Education is going to be something I will prioritize in my classroom, and I hope to foster my student’s understanding and appreciation for the outdoors! Finally here’s a nice picture from Sombrio the other week!
